The Addison-Penzak Jewish Community Center Preschool is a Developmental Program with a play and inquiry-based curriculum. We believe that play is the work of children.

Through play, children explore the world and form connections and relationships between people and objects in their environment. These connections and relationships are the foundation of more formal education and academic learning in the future.

We are dedicated to providing an engaging and stimulating hands-on experience for the children of the APJCC Preschool. In all activities, we emphasize the process of inquiry and discovery.

Music & Movement

Grandpals Shabbat

Mindfulness and a connection between the brain and the body are essential to self-regulation at any age. Students enjoy weekly yoga classes taught through storytelling with a focus on guided meditation, movement, emotional regulation, and connection.

Music transcends language, culture, age, and supports creative expression. A weekly music and movement class enriches our program by offering children opportunities to explore rhythm, song, instruments, collaboration, and creativity.

Founded by the APJCC Preschool in 2010, Grandpals Shabbat is a multigenerational program that brings seniors in the community together with preschool students each month to build relationships, expand community, and celebrate Shabbat!

Project Cornerstone

Open-Ended Art

Sensory Exploration

Project Cornerstone is a community with a mission to create environments where caring adults support and value all children. This initiative is led by parent volunteers who support children’s developmental growth through monthly story times and asset-building in the classroom.

We prioritize the process of inquiry, exploration, and discovery rather than only the visual appearance of our creations. Children regularly explore a variety of creative mediums in the classrooms and enjoy the freedom to take their art wherever their imagination guides them.

Sensory exploration supports children’s cognitive, language, social, emotional, and motor development. Our students are offered rich opportunities to explore the world around them through their senses, stimulating their understanding of themselves and their environment.
